A variation of a butter frosting, this peanut butter frosting is easy to make and tastes great on top of a rich chocolate cake. Yields enough to frost the tops and sides of two 8-inch or 9-inch cake layers. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1/3 c. creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar

Instructions

    • 1

      Beat peanut butter in a mixing bowl until it is fluffy.

      Add 2 c. of the powdered sugar gradually, beating constantly.

      add milke and vanilla; slowly beat them in.

    • 4

      Slowly beat in the rest of the powdered sugar. If necessary, add a little more milk if frosting is not spreadable.

    • 5

      Use immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • This frosting will keep up to six days in the refrigerator and up to six months in the freezer.

    Awesome...I played with brown sugar....in increments so cannot say how much. Added cinnamon instead of vanilla. This is as close as I could get to a friend of mine's grandmother's peanut butter icing. She made it for spice cake.
