  • Utility Knife
  • Utility Knife
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Remove the blind. Usually you just lift it off the screws it is hooked over, but you may need to loosen or remove screws.

  2. Step 2

Using a utility knife, cut the lift cord at the point where it is attached to the head box.

  3. Step 3

Using the old cord as a guide, cut a new cord that is 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10 cm) longer than the old cord.

  4. Step 4

Roll up the blind by hand. Tie the two ends of the new cord to the head box, and feed the cord around the blind and over the respective pulleys.

  5. Step 5

Slip the equalizing buckle (from the old cord) over the pooled end, and rehang the blind.

  6. Step 6

Adjust the buckle until the blind hangs level.
