Make your Christmas dinner table a heavenly place with angel-theme decorating. Here are some ideas.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stencils
  • Angels
  • Candles
  • Fabric Paints
  • Glitter
  • Table Runners
  • Napkins
  • Place Mats
  • Tablecloths
  • Card Stock
  • Two-sided Tape
  • Feathers
  • Napkins
  • Candles
  • Stencils
  1. Step 1

Embellish a plain tablecloth (white or ivory is often the best choice) by adding halos, wings or simple angel outlines with fabric paint. Place the decorations at the corners, or at intervals of about 18 inches near a round cloth's hem (measure in advance).

  2. Step 2

Put the tablecloth on the table.

  3. Step 3

Craft napkins to match the cloth. Put the motif on the corner that will show when the napkin is properly folded.

  4. Step 4

Extend your motif to the place cards. Embellish plain cards or draw the appropriate design on heavy paper or card stock. Attach a white feather, and/or edge it with glitter.

  5. Step 5

Set out a runner or one to three place mats for your collection of angels or an angel centerpiece to perch on. Choose the runner or place mats that suit the style of your angel centerpiece: woven-straw mats for country angels, metallic cloth for formal ones, and so forth.

  6. Step 6

Sprinkle small, curled white feathers (you may want to anchor them lightly with double-sided tape) and glitter on the runner or place mats.

  7. Step 7

Keep the centerpiece simple, perhaps with one tall angel and two candlestick holders or one tall angel and two smaller ones. It doesn't have to be a serious display, though: A children's doll can be outfitted with a halo, white robe and wings, for example.

  8. Step 8

Add your place cards and napkins to your place settings on the big day.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can enjoy this centerpiece for days or weeks before serving Christmas dinner. You can use it with the cloth (launder just before the holiday meal so it's not dusty) or with just your center place mats or table runner.
  • Stenciling your designs on linens and place cards may save time.
