Can You Sync Your iMac Controller With Your MacBook?

The remote control that came with your iMac can also be used with your MacBook or any other Mac with an IR infrared sensor. The controller allows you to change songs in iTunes, raise the volume of the computer speakers and perform other functions from within 30 feet of the computer. You can sync the controller with your MacBook so that the remote only makes changes to the MacBook and not any other computers within range of the remote.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the iMac and click the "Security" entry. Click the "General" tab.

    • 2

Click the "Unpair" button so you can sync the controller with your MacBook.

    • 3

Point the remote at the front of the MacBook and hold it about three to four inches away from the front side of the laptop's body.

    • 4

Press and hold the "Menu" and "Next" button on the remote until the "Remote Connected" icon appears on the MacBook screen.
