How to Embed Mold Trays
Embedded candles are a type of decorative candle that has one or more items preserved inside the wax. This can be anything from a family portrait to seashells. The process for embedding items in a candle is easier than it may seem. Any mold will work, but specially designed embed mold trays are available. These molds are both wide enough and deep enough to house many types of embedded items.

1
Heat a double boiler on the stove top. Add translucent high-melt straight paraffin to the top pan. This wax has a melting point of 150 degrees F.
-
2
Heat the wax to 185 to 190 degrees F. Use a candy thermometer to gauge the temperature. Carefully pour the wax into each cup on the mold.
-
-
3
Allow the wax to cure for approximately 10minutes, or until you see a 1/2-inch film formed on the top of the wax in each cup.
-
4
Scoop out a small amount of the film from the center of each mold with a spoon. Add this wax back to the double boiler.
-
5
Place the embedded item into the hole created in the center of the wax. Position it with tweezers or tongs.
-
6
Reheat the wax to 185 to 190 degrees F, and fill the hole on top of each wax-filled mold cup with hot wax.
-
7
Allow to cure fully before attempting to remove the candles. Cure times vary widely depending on the size of the candle.
