Things You'll Need:

  • Brushes
  • Raffia
  • Aleene's Instant Decoupage
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Duct Tape
  • Glues
  • Planting Containers And Dish
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Spices
  • Kitchen Shears
  • Recipe Cards
  • Tongs
  • Wooden Spoons
  • Sealant
  • Duct Tape
  1. Step 1

    Purchase a clay flowerpot and dish.

  2. Step 2

    Place duct tape over hole in bottom of flowerpot.

  3. Step 3

    Follow instructions from "How to Make Candles" to make a candle inside your flowerpot.

  4. Step 4

    Sponge-paint clay flowerpot and dish with water-based acrylic paint to match gift recipient's kitchen colors.

  5. Step 5

    Print your favorite recipe on a decorative recipe card.

  6. Step 6

    Glue recipe card to side of flowerpot. Gently press card on pot to remove all air bubbles.

  7. Step 7

    Cover flowerpot and card with three or four coats of water-based decoupage, such as Aleene's Instant Decoupage, Glue, Sealer, and Finish. (Follow manufacturer's directions.)

  8. Step 8

    Lay two wooden spoons in dish with small jars or bags of fancy spices.

Tips & Warnings
  • To present gift, place dish on top of pot (like a lid). Tie dish to pot with raffia and attach wooden spoons or kitchen tools and spices with raffia.
  • Use only water-based products on your flowerpot for fire safety.
  • Remove raffia before burning candle.
  • Do not place any paint, cutouts, or decorations inside flowerpot.
