How to Monitor Facebook Influence
Monitor the influence of a Facebook fan page to get an idea of how wide an audience the updates you send out via the page reach. Facebook Insights is a set of statistics to which each fan page owner has access. Insights measures the number of fans who "Like" a page in a given month, over the lifetime of your page and the number of "impressions" a page makes -- in other words, the number of times your posts have appeared in others' Facebook news feeds, regardless of whether anyone clicks them.

1
Log in to your Facebook account, and create a new Facebook fan page if you don't own one -- it isn't possible to measure insights for personal profiles as of August 2011. Select "Create a Page" from the bottom section of any Facebook screen, and choose a page category. Give the page a name, agree to Facebook's terms and choose "Get Started" to input basic page details. Once the page is launched, it's possible to begin measuring its influence.

2
Select "Use Facebook As Page" from the "Account" menu. Choose the name of the page for which you want to monitor influence, and click "Switch."

3
Click the "View Insights" button in the upper, right corner of the fan page. Doing so allows you to view, among other statistics, the number of monthly total likes, as well as the total number of impressions your posts have made in the Facebook News Feed over the most recent month and for all time.

Tips & Warnings
Although it isn't possible to monitor the influence of your Facebook personal account using Facebook tools, other options exists for tracking it. Namely "Klout," which also measures account influence on sites like Twitter. Visit Klout's website and connect with Facebook to gain insights into how influential your personal account is.
