Double-check your PC settings.

PC over Internet Protocol (PCoIP) is a proprietary software package designed to allow users to connect to their remote computers using nothing but a web browser and an Internet connection. The PCoIP protocol can be used to connect to the computer at your workplace from virtually anywhere, making it easy to keep up with your work no matter where you are.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the remote computer you want to connect to and double-check the IP address. This is the unique address that identifies your computer on the Internet. Click the "Start" button, choose "Run" and type "cmd," then type "ipconfig" at the prompt. Record the IP address and use it to connect your PCoIP session.

    • 2

Log on to the computer running the PCoIP session. Locate the log files you will need to start the troubleshooting. The log files are proip_server.txt and proip_agent.txt, and they are typically located in the "C:\program data\appilcation data\VMWare\VDM\logs" folder.

    • 3

Search the log files for the RTO figure. The higher the RTO figure the better the throughput in your PCoIP configuration.

    • 4

Change the settings on your network card to improve throughput. For instance, if your network card is capable of performing at 100MB but set to only 10MB, you are not taking advantage of the throughput you could be achieving in PCoIP.

    • 5

Restart your remote computer if you can connect, but experience timeouts or have problems connecting to your network files. Reconnect your PCoIP session after your computer has been restarted.
