How to Unprotect an RM2K Project

RPG Maker 2000 (RM2K) is a tool that allows coders and developers to write role-playing games. However, it comes with several bugs. One of the best-documented is an error that causes a "Font Protected" message when you type too much in one project. When you see this, the program stops you from typing any more. The developers have a released a patch that will unprotect the font on your project.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the RPG Maker Vault website.

    • 2

Download the RM2K "Font Patch." Click "Run" when the window pops up.

    • 3

Enter the password "www.freewebs.com/rpgmakervault" (no quotes) when Windows asks you for the ZIP file password.

    • 4

Double-click the patch file in the window that pops up. Note that you cannot have RM2K running when you install the patch.

    • 5

Click "Install." This will unprotect all RM2K projects and fix the bug for good.
