How to Fix a Jammed Slide Projector

Your friends may let slip a surreptitious sigh of relief when you're forced to interrupt your 150-slide presentation of the family trip to Walt Disney World. But that jammed slide can ruin your carousel projector as well as your show if you don't remove it properly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Turn off the slide projector and let it cool for a few minutes. This might be a good time to refresh everyone's drinks.
Step2
Remove the slide tray. This will require loosening a latch or inserting a quarter into a slot in the center of the tray and turning it.
Step3
With the lock ring in place, turn the tray upside down. Rotate the metal plate on the bottom of the carousel until it clicks into place.
Step4
Carefully remove the jammed slide from the projector. You may need to press the Forward button.
Step5
Place the tray back in the projector and, if it's undamaged, return the slide to its slot.
Step6
Press the button that advances the carousel and spin the tray to where you left off.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more slides a carousel holds, the more likely it is to jam, because the slots are closer together. You might want to split a big show between two 80-slide carousels rather than one 140-slide carousel.
