How to Close the IM Box on Facebook

You can also press the "Esc" key while viewing an IM to close it.

Facebook chat gives you the ability to instant message with your friends. You can close the IM boxes that appear at the bottom of your screen if the conversation is over or you simply don't want the box to remain on your screen. When you close the screen, the conversation is archived. You can view it again once you reopen the conversation. You can close one IM box separately, or all the open boxes at once.

Instructions

1. Click the IM box of the conversation you want to close. The box is located at the bottom of the screen while you are viewing Facebook. The conversation will expand to show the text of it.

2. Click the "X" in the upper-right of the IM box. The box will close.

3. Click the "X" in the remaining IM boxes you want to close. Alternately, you can click the icon in the upper right of the IM window and uncheck "Available to Chat" to close all the boxes at once.
