How to Undo a Sent Notification on Facebook

Undo the action for which Facebook sent a notification to someone in your Friends list to prevent him from seeing anything when he clicks the notification. Although it isn't possible to unsend a notification -- in other words, if you comment on someone's photo but then delete the comment, the notification nonetheless remains -- undoing or deleting the activity that sent a notification prevents the person from seeing it on Facebook. However, a friend may be able to see all or part of your post if he receives notification updates from Facebook via email.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Facebook account. Navigate to the place where you completed the activity that sent a notification. If you posted a comment on someone's photo, for example, open her profile and browse through her photos until you find the one where you made the comment.

    • 2

Hover your mouse over comments or posts anywhere on Facebook.

    • 3

Click the "X" that appears next to the comment or post to delete it completely.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be honest with someone who questions you as to why you deleted the post. If he receives email notification updates, he can see at least part of the post you made and knows what it is about. If you posted something hurtful and then decided to delete it, be prepared to own up to what you said.
