How to Modify a Buggy With a Uni Filter

How to Modify a Buggy With a Uni Filter thumbnail
Uni filters are designed for use in dusty and dirty conditions.

Uni filters are universal-fit air filters that use a simple compression clamp to attach onto a vehicle's carburetor. Uni produces these filters in a number of sizes to accommodate practically any intake layout, regardless of whether the buggy utilizes an intake tube, a snorkel or an open intake. These filters are designed with off-road vehicles in mind, making the filters ideal for the dirty conditions that buggies often come into contact with.

Instructions

    • 1

Unbolt the stock air cleaner assembly from the buggy's engine by loosening the metal compression band with a screwdriver. This will loosen the assembly from the buggy's carburetor.

    • 2

Measure the diameter of the carburetor opening with a tape measure to determine the size Uni filter required. The filters are sold in several sizes.

    • 3

Slide the open end of the Uni filter over the lip of the buggy engine's carburetor, and then slide the metal compression band over the filter so that it is positioned just above the carburetor lip with the filter element positioned between them. Tighten the compression band with a screwdriver until the air filter element is snugly held onto the buggy engine's carburetor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean the filter occasionally to maintain the buggy's performance.
