How to Make the Spell Death Work in "Final Fantasy XIII"
In "Final Fantasy XIII," high-level enemies and bosses have thousands of hit points, and killing them often requires several rounds of attacks. In contrast, Vanille's Death spell can kill a monster in one hit. Death's power comes with a price, however, and the move is very inaccurate. Some monsters are even immune to Death. To increase the accuracy of Death, cast a debuff or a status spell on an enemy. Certain wands, like the Belladonna Wand, also increase Death's accuracy.

1
Find and equip the Belladonna Wand on Vanille. You find the Belladonna Wand in the Sun-Dappled Trail area of the Sunleth Waterscape. This area is first accessible to you in Chapter 6. Alternately, you can buy the Belladonna Wand from the shop for 31,200 gil.

2
Switch Vanille's role to Saboteur as soon as a battle starts. Have a party member -- for example, Lightning -- cast Libra on an enemy. If a small skull appears over the enemy's head, it is immune to Death. Casting Death will never work on an immune enemy.

-
3
Cast a debuff on the enemy using Vanille. Examples of useful debuffs include Deshell, Curse and Slow.
-
4
Cast Faith or Faithra on Vanille. Both spells increase Vanille's magic power temporarily.
-
5
Use Death on the enemy you are targeting. If it works, the enemy dies instantly. If it does not work, continue to use Death until it strikes and kills the enemy.
