Instructions

    • 1

Set the metal object that you will be bending down on a flat surface. Wipe it off with a clean rag. Scrub throughly so you can remove all dirt and debris from the surface. Add dish soap to the rag, if necessary, to remove all dirt and debris.

    • 2

Set a propane torch down on a flat surface away from anything that it could burn. Put on gloves and safety goggles before turning on the propane torch. Press the button on the front of the propane torch to light the flame.

    • 3

Pick up the metal object with tongs and hold it in front of the flame. Move it back and forth from side to side so all areas of the object can begin to heat up. Continue heating it until the entire object turns red. Turn off the propane torch.

Set the object down on a surface where it will not burn the area underneath, such as a stovetop. Hit the metal firmly with a hammer. Strike it with the hammer at the location where you want it to bend. Hold one end with the tong while you strike it with the hammer. Continue hitting until the desired bend has been achieved.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not leave the metal under the flame in one place or it may burn. Move it constantly from side to side.

  • Be extremely careful when you are working with such hot flames. Always keep your hands and eyes protected.
