Instructions

    • 1

Insert rubber washers into each end of the water lines. The washers are usually in a hardware bag, if installing a new washer. Rubber washers for garden hoses and washing machine water lines are available at home improvement centers and hardware stores, if you purchased water lines separately.

    • 2

Thread one end of a water line onto the left spigot valve for the washer coming out of the wall. The left spigot valve is the incoming hot water. Once the water line is hand tight, turn it another 2/3 turn with a pair of slip joint pliers.

    • 3

Screw the opposite end of the water line onto the water inlet valve marked "H" or "Hot" on the back of the washer until it is hand tight. Turn the connection another 2/3 turn with the slip joint pliers.

    • 4

Install the remaining line to the cold water spigot and remaining water inlet valve on the back of the washer in the same manner as the first line.

    • 5

Turn the water spigots counterclockwise slowly and inspect the connections for leaks. Tighten the connecting ends as necessary until no leaks are visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is not necessary to use plumber's tape around the threads of the spigots or inlet valves. The rubber washer inside the hose ends prevent leaks.
