Celebrity meet and greets can be an effective way for fans to meet celebrities in an orderly, controlled one-on-one environment. Meet and greets usually feature a celebrity seated at a table while fans, waiting in line, take turns meeting the star. Fans can typically get autographs, take photos with the star and occasionally engage in some short small talk. You can make the most out of a meet and greet by being prepared and staying calm when you meet the celebrity.

Instructions

    • 1

Think about what you'd like to say to the celebrity. You will only have a few short minutes to interact with the star so be brief and to the point when you talk to him. You can tell him how talented you think he is or what a big fan you are of him. Try to think of something unique to say, such as talking about fashion or suggesting a place to eat while the celebrity is in town. Have a few different comments or questions prepared so that you don't spend the precious time you have with him talking about his flight or the weather.

    • 2

Bring something for the celebrity to autograph. Bring a copy of a book if the celebrity is an author, a jersey or sports item if he is an athlete, a CD if he's a musician or a plain photo or magazine cover of him. Make sure the item is something that you can hold on to for the rest of your life. Don't have the celebrity sign your arm, shirt or something else that will inevitably have to be washed off.

    • 3

Bring a digital camera with you. Make sure the camera is fully charged, has adequate photo space and that the camera is on the right picture setting. Since there will be other people waiting behind you, you will most likely only get a chance to get one picture taken with the star. Take a few test pictures of yourself or of the event while you wait in line to make sure the camera is ready to go.

    • 4

Have a plan of how to pass the time. Some fans start lining up for a meet and greet in the wee hours of the morning or even the day before the meet and greet will occur. Since you will most likely be spending several hours in line, plan how you will pass the time. Bring a friend and fellow fan to share the experience with, bring magazines to look at or surf the Internet on an Internet-capable cellphone.

    • 5

Bring a gift for the celebrity. Read interviews done with him or look at his official website to find out what some of the celebrity's favorite activities and interests are. Buy some of his favorite items and arrange a gift basket or bag to give to him. Not only will doing this help set you apart from the rest of the crowd but it also might allow you to get a hug or handshake from the star.

    • 6

Stay calm. The last thing you want to do when meeting a celebrity is to freak out and make a fool of yourself. Perform deep breathing exercises to relax and mentally prepare for the moment when you will meet the star. Rehearse what you plan to say in your head several times so that you are comfortable saying it. Remind yourself that the celebrity is just like any other person and isn't worth having a meltdown over.
