How to Fix Hair With a Cathedral Veil
Cathedral veils are created from two layers of materials of different lengths. The top layer of the veil is pulled forward to fall over the head piece and face. The second layer of veil falls down the back and leaves a long train in some styles. Due to the long length of a formal cathedral veil, the hair must be fixed securely to hold the weight of the material. Several techniques can be used depending on the length of the hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Short Hair

1
Comb through the hair with a wide-tooth comb. Remove any knots or tangles by working through the hair from the tips up to the roots.
-
2
Lift a 5-inch horizontal section of hair in the place where the wedding veil will begin. Twist the section of hair and pin it to the side.
-
-
3
Create three small ponytails with the layer of hair directly beneath the clipped section. Secure the small ponytails with small rubber bands.
-
4
Insert the teeth of the veil comb under the rubber bands. Secure the veil comb further with small bobby pins if desired.
-
5
Unclip the section of hair that lies above the comb. Flip the section of hair backward to cover the rubber bands and the veil comb.
Long Hair
-
6
Comb through the hair with a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles. Use a detangling spray for difficult knots if needed.
-
7
Form a pin curl in the place where the veil will begin. Pull a 3-inch horizontal section of hair from this area and apply hair gel from root to tip.
-
8
Twist the section of hair around your index finger tightly. Push the spiral down flat against the scalp where the veil comb will start.
-
9
Create an "X" in the center of the spiral by crossing two bobby pins. Ensure that the bobby pins grasp the hair underneath the spiral to keep the spiral secure.
-
10
Slide the veil comb through the top of the pin curl. Secure the comb with additional bobby pins if needed.

Tips & Warnings
Use styling products to help hold the hair and cathedral veil in place. Insert the veil into the hair shortly before the event for the best results.
Additional bobby pins and styling products will need to be used for heavier veils. Consult with a professional hairstylist about your options.
