How to Install a Sound Deadener in a Kenmore

Kenmore is a manufacturer of large home appliances, including under-counter dishwashers. Under-counter dishwashers are convenient appliances to have, but they can be noisy. Fortunately, you can purchase after-market sound absorbers -- which are essentially large pads that wrap around the body of the dishwasher -- to muffle the clamor that is produced by the machine. Some absorbers cover both sides and the top of the dishwasher; others cover the machine's sides, top and rear. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. Generally, the water-supply line will be located on the back wall of the cabinet closest to the unit.

    • 2

Turn off the power to the dishwasher from the circuit breaker to avoid electrical shock.

    • 3

Pull the dishwasher out from its under-counter cavity. If need be, ask someone to assist you in pulling the unit free.

    • 4

Attach the padding to the frame of the dishwasher by using silicon sealant or another adhesive. Allow 30 minutes to an hour for the adhesive to dry.

    • 5

Slide the dishwasher back into its cavity.

    • 6

Flip the dishwasher's breaker switch back on and restore water to the dishwasher. Run it through a cycle to test the sound dampener.
