Check that the condenser on the outside of the home is plugged into a working socket.

    • 2

Pull the fuse block from the air conditioner shut-off box on the outside of the home and inspect the fuses for signs of scorching. Bring the fuse block to a hardware store for testing and have any faulty fuses replaced.

    • 3

Check that your thermostat is set to a temperature cooler than the air in the room. Inspect the thermostat for the correct settings and that it is turned "On." Check any fault icons on the thermostat face in your owner's manual. Change the batteries if the unit is not working at all.

Check the condensate pump on your unit and pull out the reservoir. Pour out the water if it is full. Some air conditioners will not turn on if the unit is full.

Tips & Warnings

  • Call your electric company to see if you are signed up for a low cost plan. During high activity, your electric company may shut off the power supply to your air conditioner to prevent high costs.
