How to Make Manga Plushies

You don't have to know how to draw or paint manga to make a manga plushy. All you need are basic sewing skills and a printer. These plushies are a mix between a pillow friend and a stuffed animal and star your favorite characters. Since these toys are so easy to make, you can create several manga plushies featuring each of the characters from your favorite show to make a collection.

Instructions

    • 1

Copy-and-paste an image of your favorite character into a word processing document or art program, such as Microsoft Paint.

    • 2

Print the image onto a piece of printable fabric.

    • 3

      Cut out the image.

    • 4

Lay the fabric onto another piece of fabric that's the same size.

    • 5

Trace around the cutout fabric with the tailor's pencil onto the blank fabric.

    • 6

      Cut out the traced shape.

    • 7

Lay the printed side of the fabric down on the other piece of fabric and line up the edges.

    • 8

Sew the edges of the fabric pieces together using a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine. Leave 3 inches of the fabric unsewn so that the fabric looks like a pocket.

    • 9

      Turn the pocket inside out.

    • 10

      Stuff the pocket with batting.

    • 11

Sew the top of the pocket closed using a whipstitch. Complete a whipstitch by pushing your needle through the fabric, then whipping the thread around the edge of the fabric and pushing the needle back through the fabric right next to the area where you pushed the needle through the first time.
