How to Make a Jagged Edge Smooth in GIMP
If you have an image or photograph that features jagged edges, you can use the free graphic program GIMP's IWarp tool to smooth out the uneven lines and create a seamless result. Regardless of the size of your image, you can customize IWarp's deform settings to suit it. The tool will also work with any colors and any angles.
Instructions

1
Launch GIMP and open the picture you want to smooth out by clicking on "File" and "Open." The image will open in a GIMP workbook window.
-
2
Click on the "Ellipse Select Tool" in the main toolbox. Double-click and drag your cursor from one corner of the jagged edge to the other, encompassing every rough portion that you want to smooth out. Click within the selection to activate the area.

3
Select "Filters," "Distorts" and "IWarp." The IWarp tool will open in its own dialog with a preview box of changes made and a list of deform settings. For relatively small jagged edges, you may want to keep the "Deform radius" small. For large and exaggerated roughness, you may want to increase both the "Deform radius" and "Deform amount." Keep the "Mode" as "Move," regardless of whether you do this.

4
Double-click your cursor on the outside of the jagged edges and drag your mouse inward to smooth out the lines. Continue to double-click and drag your cursor to even out the surrounding pixels as desired.
-
5
Click "OK" and the IWarp changes will take place.
