How to Troubleshoot Redness in a Plasma TV

A reddish hue may take over the picture display on your plasma TV. When this occurs, the screen tends to look unnatural; it takes away from your up-close and personal viewing enjoyment. Plasma TVs have a variety of color settings. With a few tips, choosing the right one to remove the redness will be easy for you to do.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control or TV control panel.

    • 2

Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button, and select "Picture," and then press the "Enter" button twice to select the TV viewing mode.

    • 3

Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button, and select "Dynamic," to increase the picture detail; "Standard," for basic TV viewing; or "Movie" for movie watching. Base your selection on how you watch TV most of the time. Press the "Enter" button.

    • 4

Press the "Down" arrow button and select "Color Tone," and then press the "Enter" button.

    • 5

Press the "Down" arrow button, and then select "Normal," "Cool1," or "Cool2," if available. The cool color tones will display more blue and green tones. Other settings may include "Warm1," and "Warm2." The warm color tones display more red, orange and yellow hues.

    • 6

Press the "Exit" button. If redness is still a problem, go to the next step.

    • 7

Repeat Steps 1 through 3, and then press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button, and select "Reset." Press the "Enter" button, and then press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button. Select "OK," and then press the "Enter" button to reset the picture settings back to the factory defaults.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some plasma TVs do not have warm color tone settings available in "Dynamic" and "Standard" TV viewing modes, so select either mode when redness becomes a problem. By contrast, select the "Movie" watching mode when you want warmer color tones.
