How to: Samba SWAT Installation & Configuration

The Samba Web Administration Tool, or SWAT, is used to configure and manage Samba installations. Samba is a print and file server for UNIX and Linux-based systems that can create similar characteristics to a Windows NT server. SWAT can be accessed directly or through remote computers. You must set up file-sharing and configuration settings in Samba in order to use SWAT to connect to your Samba server.

      Launch your computer's Web browser and type "http://localhost:901/" into the URL field.

      Press "Enter" to install SWAT.

      Type your administrator's username and password when prompted.

      Click "OK" to open the SWAT configuration wizard.

      Click "Global" and select "Guest" to enter.
