How to Make Facebook Safe When on Public Wi-Fi

A secured connection means you are safe when browsing online, as other users on a network can't access the site you're accessing. This is especially important when you're dealing with confidential information. In 2011, Facebook introduced a new feature to browse Facebook on a secured connection, making your account and private information safe from potential hacking while using a shared network, such as Wi-Fi.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Facebook account. Click "Account," then click "Account Settings" in the drop-down menu.

2. Click "Security." Click "Edit" next to "Secure Browsing."

3. Click the checkbox next to "Browse Facebook on a Secure Connection," then click "Save Changes." You will see "https://" instead of "http://" in your address bar when you log in to Facebook.
