M45 Laser Blinder Mounting Instructions
While radar guns are still the most common technology utilized by law enforcement to detect speeders, use of LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) guns is increasing. These devices bounce a pulsing laser beam off a vehicle and calculate its speed by measuring the amount of time it takes for the reflected beam to return to the source. "Blinding" technology, like the Blinder M45, jams the laser beam. The four transceivers mounted at the front of a vehicle continuously scan for laser energy, lock onto pulses and return an infrared beam to the source to scramble the laser reception. The speed readout at the laser gun momentarily blanks, allowing adequate time for the driver to adjust speed downward. The Blinder M45 system consists of four transceivers, an interior interface, a visual and audio alarm, and an on/off switch.
Instructions

-
1
Determine the optimum location for transceivers at the front of the vehicle. They should be positioned to point straight ahead, horizontal to the road and parallel to the direction of travel.
-
2
Install the mounting brackets on each of the transceiver boxes with the supplied screws.
-
-
3
Mount the transceiver brackets and transceivers to the front of the vehicle using the supplied four screws per transceiver.
-
4
Remove the plastic plug on the outer side of each transceiver. Insert the supplied leveling gauge into the opening. Adjust the attitude of each transceiver in its bracket until the leveling gauge shows that the transceiver is perfectly level and horizontal to the road. Remove the leveling gauge and reinstall the plugs in each transceiver.
-
5
Find an appropriate place for the interface box in the interior of the car. Do not mount the interface under the hood in the engine compartment.
-
6
Route the single, four-conductor cable from each transceiver to the interface box and plug into the outlets on the interface box marked 1 through 4.
-
7
Mount the laser audio alert and the warning/power LED in a visible location in the interior. Plug the accompanying cable into the "Alert" jacks on the interface box.
-
8
Connect the blue wire from the interface box to the auto mute on the car stereo, if equipped.
-
9
Connect the black negative wire from the interface box to negative ground.
-
10
Plug the red positive wire from the interface box into the on/off switch module. Connect the extension wire from the switch module to a switched 12-volt auxiliary power outlet.
