Instructions

    • 1

Wet your face with lukewarm water. Apply facial cleanser to clean fingertips. Gently rub the cleanser into the skin and rinse. Pat your face dry with a clean, dry towel. Choose a cleanser that does not contain any perfume or dyes.

    • 2

Wash affected areas located on other areas of the body. Wet the area and wash it with a mild facial cleanser instead of body wash. Avoid using a loofah. Rub the cleanser into the affected area using light pressure with your fingers.

    • 3

Wash your face once in the morning and once before you go to bed. Continue using a mild facial cleanser that does not contain exfoliating beads. Frequently exfoliating your skin often causes dryness and irritation. A mild cleanser cleans the area without irritating it.

Place an ice pack on the affected area. Gently hold the ice pack on the zit for two to three minutes at a time. The icepack will not only reduce the swelling of the zit, but will also help numb the area. Dry the area once more with the cloth.

    • 5

Pour a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar into a clean bowl. Dip the tip of a cotton swab into the bowl. Apply the tip of the cotton swab to the zit. Let the apple cider vinegar dry. Apple cider vinegar helps dry out the pimple and also aids in swelling reduction.

Apply a mild acne medication or toothpaste to the zit before you go to bed each night. Use a clean cotton swab to apply the product. Completely cover the zit with the medication or toothpaste. Let the product dry and leave the zit alone overnight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Refrain from touching the pimple. Keep your hands away from your face and the swollen zit.

  • Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid overly processed foods and fast foods. When you feed your body healthy foods, you help keep your skin healthy, as well. Greasy foods and sugars contribute to painful acne.

  • Consult a dermatologist if you have zits that do not respond to over-the-counter or home treatments. Consult a dermatologist if the zit looks infected or becomes overly painful.

  • Do not pop your zits. Popping your zits often leads to scarring on the skin.
