How to Catch Entei, Suicune & Raikou on "Pokémon Ruby"
In the Pokémon universe, Raikou, Entei and Suicune are alternatively known as the Legendary Beasts. These three legendary Pokémon are quite rare, and are limited to only one wild encounter for each game they are included in. Players of third generation game "Pokémon Ruby" would have found that this trio, introduced in "Pokémon Gold" and "Pokémon Silver," was left out of the Ruby version. The only way to obtain these Pokémon is to trade for them with another player, or transfer them from FireRed or LeafGreen.
Things You'll Need
- Pokémon Ruby Version
- Two Nintendo Game Boy Advance systems
- Game link cable
- Compatible game with Raikou/Entei/Suicune (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen)
Instructions
-
-
1
Connect the two Game Boy Advance systems via the Game Link Cable.
-
2
Have each member of the trade (or, if you're transferring from one of your games to the other, each player character) go to a Pokémon Center in any town.
-
-
3
Have both trade members head upstairs and speak to the Cable Club Trade Center representative to initiate the trade.
-
4
Select a Pokémon to trade for Raikou, Entei or Suicune. When simply trading from one of your own games to another, any Pokémon will do. However, if trading with another player you may have to specifically negotiate a Pokémon to trade in exchange for one of the Legendary Beasts. As rare Pokémon, they are more valuable than average Pokémon.
-
5
Complete the trade and exchange Pokémon. When finished, you will have one of the Legendary Beasts available to you on your Ruby version game. To gain the other two, you will have to perform further trades.

Tips & Warnings
The only games capable of trading Pokémon to Ruby version are Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed and LeafGreen. This is because while Pokémon can be transferred forward into fourth generation games like Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver, there is no method to send them back from those games due to data changes. Likewise, Pokémon can't be sent forward from Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver or Crystal to Ruby because of changes in data structure and system.
The only third generation games where Raikou, Entei and Suicune appear are FireRed and LeafGreen. No other third generation Pokémon games feature these Pokémon as available for capture.
Raikou, Entei and Suicune can be traded from Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald, assuming that they have already been traded to one of these games beforehand.
