How to Make a Star With Vans

Vans footwear is a popular brand of shoes worn by skateboarders. Many skaters like to wear shoes that fit loosely on the feet, which makes it easy to take the shoes off or to put the shoes back on again. As the laces do not need to be pulled tight, often the laced are tied in a creative way to add flair to the shoe. A six-sided hexagram star lacing pattern on the front of a pair of Vans will help your shoes stand out. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Thread one end of the lace through the left eyelet that is the sixth from the top, from the outside in. Thread the other end through the right eyelet that is the sixth from the top, again from the outside in. Pull the ends so the laces are even.

    • 2

Cross each lace over the tongue and through the eyelet that is the third from the top on the opposite side, from the outside in. The laces form an X.

    • 3

Pull the right loose end through the eyelet that is the fourth from the top on the right, from the inside out. Pull up and through the top left eyelet, from the inside out. For reference this end is called loose end "B." End B begins on the lower left, crosses to the right around the middle of the tongue, then passed back to the left at the top, creating two angular sections over the tongue.

    • 4

Pass the remaining loose end, referred to as end A for reference, through the left eyelet fourth from the top, from the inside out. Pass end A across the tongue and under the lower angled section of end B, then through the right eyelet fourth from the top, from the outside in.

    • 5

Pull end A through the right eyelet third from the top, from the inside out. Cross end A over the tongue by passing it in front of the upper angled section of end B. Pass end A through the left eyelet third from the top, from the outside in.

    • 6

Pull end A through the left eyelet that is the fourth from the top. The lace should hang on the outside of the shoe.

    • 7

Weave end A under the section of A that was used in the initial X over the top horizontal bar made with end A, and then weave under the top angled section of end B. Pass the lace through the top right eyelet from the inside out to complete the star.
