How to Sell Merchandise on Amazon.com

Amazon.com offers a huge selection of items for sale directly, but it also provides an easy method for third-party sellers to market their products to consumers. From any item's page, prospective buyers can see prices from every independent seller offering the item. In order to have your products listed on these pages, you only need to visit the item's page and enter in a few pieces of information.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit Amazon.com and search for the item you want to sell in the store. Open the product page for the correct version of the item.

    • 2

Press the "Sell on Amazon" button in the "More Buying Choices" box.

    • 3

Pick the condition of your item from the drop-down box. For used or collectable items, you will have to specify the item's quality. You can also enter a short note in the "Condition Note" field to describe any damage, markings or missing parts on the item. When done, press "Continue."

    • 4

Type in a price for your item, and enter the quantity of the item you have to sell. The price and condition refer to all items related to that listing, so if you have multiple items that are in different conditions, list each separately.

    • 5

Pick how to ship the item. By default, Amazon.com will charge buyers a flat fee for shipping, then add this amount to the sum paid to you to cover your shipping costs. You can also check the "Expedited Shipping" box to allow customers faster shipping services at a higher cost. Alternatively, you can select "I want Amazon to ship and provide customer service for my items if they sell." This option will list your items through "Fulfillment by Amazon." Under this program, you send all your merchandise directly to Amazon.com. The company will store your products and ship them out to customers for an additional fee. In order to use this service, you must already belong to Fulfillment by Amazon. You can request an invitation to the program by writing to Amazon Services through their "Contact Us" form.

    • 6

Click "Continue." At this point, Amazon.com will ask you to sign in to your account or to create a new one. If you haven't sold on Amazon.com before, you will have to enter in your personal information in order to get paid.

    • 7

Read over all the information and ensure it is correct. Press "Submit Your Listing" to list the item for sale.

    • 8

Click "Your Account" from any page on the website, then "Your Seller Account" to view your selling status. From here, click "View your current inventory" to check what you currently have for sale or to edit existing listings.

    • 9

Ship your item to the buyer as soon as you receive an email notice that the item has been sold. Amazon.com will automatically handle the payment process.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before selling on Amazon.com, check other sellers' prices for the same item to set your price accordingly.

  • To ensure you list your item on the correct page, search for your product using its ISBN or UPC instead of its name.

  • Mail your items quickly and ensure that the condition of the product is exactly as listed since buyers will have the opportunity to rate you as a seller and provide publicly viewable feedback.
