Instructions

    • 1

Trim the flowers and greenery, leaving an inch base to work with. Use scissors or trimmers to remove any excess stem or leaves. The amount of stem that you leave depends on how large you are going to make your corsage. An inch is a good rule of thumb, but double this if you want a corsage that extends from the wrist more than a few inches.

    • 2

Fasten the greenery onto the elastic. A corsage elastic comes with four prongs on one side of the elastic, which you can use to wrap around the greenery stems. If you use a piece of regular elastic, feed wire into and around the stems of the greenery, and wrap the wire around the elastic to secure it. Greenery can be arranged radiating from a center, facing all in one direction or fastened in the center with leaves on each side.

    • 3

Prepare the flowers using wire and floral tape, which you can purchase from any floral shop. Feed the wire into the base of the flower, puncturing the base. Wrap the wire down the length of the stem, leaving a few inches of extra wire at the end. Wrap floral tape over the wired stem of the flower. Arrange the flowers together into a pleasing formation, but do not wire them together yet.

    • 4

Feed the wire ends of the flowers through the greenery and around the elastic, re-creating the floral arrangement that you created in the previous step. Put the flowers in the center of the greenery if you used the radial or two-sided formation. Put the flowers at the stem end of the greenery if you used the one-directional formation.

    • 5

Wrap floral tape around the wires where they meet the elastic to secure firmly. Wrap a ribbon around the length of the elastic to cover it, starting with the center of the ribbon at the opposite end of the elastic from the flowers. Wrap each side up the elastic, meeting at the flowers. Tie a bow or knot under the flowers, allowing the ends to hang out of the flowers if desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you use fresh flowers, keep in mind that they will wilt quickly. Keep your corsage in a cool place until you are ready to use it.
