How to Make a File Smaller in Premier Elements

Adobe Premier Elements includes much of the functionality of the full Adobe Premier product, but is a pared-down version for users to learn how to use the video production tool. To make a file smaller in Premier Elements, change the size of the video from, for example, 720 by 480 to 320 by 240. However, if you do not want to change the viewing size of the video, export the video to a different, more compressed file type such as Digital Video AVI.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the video in Adobe Premier Elements.

    • 2

Click "File" on the top navigation bar.

    • 3

Click the "Export" option, then click "Movie."

    • 4

Click the "Settings" option, then click the "DV AVI (*.avi)" option in the File Type drop-down box.

    • 5

Click the "Export" button. The video is exported to the new file type.
