How to Use a New Yorker Steam Press

Set the New Yorker steam press on a sturdy work surface. Unlock the locking knob.

Make sure the press is unplugged. Slide the water tank toward the front of the unit, and fill the water tank of the steam press with the pressing plate lifted to the raised position. Choose the temperature setting for your wrinkled items.

Plug the press in and switch it on. Slide the water tank back into its recessed position, and allow it to heat up for a minute.

Lift the pressing plate to the fully raised position. Place the garment on the ironing board and press down with the steamer to smooth out the wrinkles. You don't need to apply added pressure to the plate -- it will smooth your garments without any effort on your part.

Ensure you are pressing the garment in sections, placing it right side up on the ironing board and pressing the entire body of the item. Flip or arrange for other parts of the garment, if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Turn the temperature control dial until it points to the kind of fabric you wish to press. If you cannot determine the type of fabric, begin with the lowest setting and increase the temperature gradually, otherwise you may burn the fabric.
Never leave your activated New Yorker steam press unattended, and switch off the appliance once you are done.
