  • Wax paper
  • Toothpicks
  • Pink food coloring
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Rolling pin
  • Pansy-shaped fondant petal cutters
  • Veining needle
  • Violet food coloring

Instructions

    • 1

      Roll the fondant into a ball. Separate a small amount of fondant to create the pansies' stamens.

      Dip a toothpick into pink food coloring. Add about six dots of the food coloring to the top surface of the large fondant ball designated for the pansies' petals.

      Dip a clean toothpick into yellow food coloring. Add about three dots to the small fondant ball designated for the stamens.

      Knead the fondant balls with with your hands and knuckles to blend the coloring. Add more coloring to achieve a darker color of pink, as pansies can range from light to hot pink. Knead the fondant each time after adding coloring. Wash you hands in between kneading the yellow ball and the pink ball.

      Place the fondant balls on wax paper to prevent them from sticking. Roll the large fondant ball until it is about 1-inch thick.

      Press pansy-shaped fondant petal cutters into the fondant. Separate the petals from the rolled out fondant.

      Brush water onto the bottom of the petals to stack and attach them to each other to resemble pansies. Place the fondant pansies on wax paper to prevent sticking.

      Create tiny balls out of small pieces of the yellow fondant by balling it in your hands to make the stamens. Apply water to one side of the ball and press it into place in the center of the flower where the pansy leaves meet.

      Dip the veining needle into a lighter violet food coloring. Draw veins on the pansies that extend from the stamens to mid-length on the petals.

      Allow the fondant pansies to dry on wax paper overnight at room temperature.
