How to Camouflage an ATV

Alter the suggested colors as desired to create a custom paint job.

If you are worried about someone trying to steal your all terrain vehicle (ATV) when you leave it unattended at campsites or on riding trails, paint the surface area of the vehicle with a camouflage pattern. Camouflage enables you to effectively conceal your ATV in natural outdoor settings. This technique isn't as effective in urban environments where your best option is to get an alarm system, but most ATV owners spend the majority of their time riding in rural locations.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a branch with intact foliage that is slightly spaced apart. Break the branch down until it is half of the length of your ATV.

    • 2

Drive the ATV onto the center of an opened tarp and tape off the seat, windshield, hand controls and instrument cluster. Coat the remaining body surfaces of the ATV with ultra-flat black spray paint. Wait one hour.

    • 3

Hold the branch against the body of the ATV and direct a stream of ultra-flat olive drab spray paint through the leaves. Continue spraying the olive drab paint through the leaves as you pull the branch over the entire body surface area of the ATV until you have created an evenly spaced leaf pattern. Give the paint one hour to dry.

    • 4

Exchange the olive drab spray paint for the brown spray paint and perform the painting method detailed in the previous step. Wait one hour for the brown layer of paint to dry.

    • 5

Repeat the same painting method with the tan paint and wait another hour for the final coat of paint to dry. Remove the painter's tape.
