How to Cancel a Joint Bank Account & Go Back to a Single Account
A joint bank accounts gives access to the account to multiple people at the same time. This means that anyone listed on the account can withdraw and deposit money from and to the account. However, one account owner cannot have the other account owner's name taken off the account. To make the account a single account, it must be closed and a new account created. Any of the joint account owners can close the account without the other owner's consent.
