How to Use a Hanging Clamp with an Axe Handle

How to Use a Hanging Clamp with an Axe Handle thumbnail
Hanging clamps are a safe storage option for the ax.

Hanging clamps are small metal brackets that hold tools flush against a wall. The clamps are designed to grab the handle, and are capable of holding most tools in a vertical or horizontal position. The uneven weight distribution of an axe makes it an ideal candidate for vertical hanging, but a horizontal position is also possible. Hanging the axe requires attention to safety, as the bit is sharp and may cause injury if not properly secured by the clamp. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Screw a single clamp into the wall in a vertical position. Screw the clamp against a stud for maximum security.

    • 2

Push the ax handle against the clamp, with the sharp end of the bit facing away from the wall. The narrow section of the handle is easy to push into the clamp.

    • 3

Once secure in the clamp, turn the handle until the bit is flush against the wall. Now the bit is positioned in a safe manner.

    • 4

Pull down on the handle until the base of the bit contacts the top of the clamp. This places the weight directly on the clamp and prevents the ax from falling off the clamp.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use two clamps for holding the ax in a horizontal position. Secure one of the clamps against the base of the bit for maximum security.

  • Hang the ax to prevent children from grabbing the handle. Grabbing the handle may pull the bit from the clamp and cause the ax to fall.
