Scansnap Troubleshooting

The Scansnap is a color scanner manufactured by Fujitsu that is compatible with Windows-based computers. This machine allows you to take paper documents and convert them to digital files in your computer. If you are having problems getting your Fujitsu Scansnap to operate properly, there are ways to troubleshoot the unit that won't take more than a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the USB cable running to the computer as well as the power cable running to the outlet to ensure they are connected properly. Try other devices with the USB input in your computer and the power outlet to make sure it isn't a faulty power outlet or USB port.

    • 2

Install the included Scansnap software on your computer via the installer disc that comes with the unit. If you haven't installed this software, it could be the reason the computer doesn't recognize the scanner when it is plugged in.

    • 3

Check the specifications on the scanner as well as those on your computer. If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements (such as RAM size and operating system type), it could be the reason the scanner is running slow or not operating at all.

    • 4

Check the pick roller at the base of the scanner to make sure it isn't obstructed by debris or dirty. If it is obstructed, clean it and remove the debris. This could be the reason paper is getting jammed.

    • 5

Launch the scanner software from your computer's desktop. In the main menu, you can adjust brightness or switch from black and white to color. This may be why the scanning isn't coming out the way you'd like.

    • 6

Click on the "Scansnap Manager" icon in the program menu. From here, you can adjust the quality settings of the image you scan. Setting the quality to "Excellent" will improve your scans but will take longer to scan.
