How Do I Run an InfraRecorder?

An InfraRecorder is a CD/DVD copying and burning tool developed for the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is a free, open-source program that was released on September 10, 2006. Its functionality is very similar to commercial software but without the cost and corporate technical support. The latest version of InfraRecorder is available for download from from infrarecorder.org and will run in 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

      Download the InfraRecorder software, then follow the installation instructions. Once the installation is complete, your InfraRecorder is ready to use.

      Open the InfraRecorder program by clicking on the desktop shortcut or opening it from the program menu. This opens the initial menu where you select the type of project you want to undertake. You can burn audio, video and data CDs. You also can write a disc image to a CD by copying the contents of a CD to a disc image on your hard drive or directly copying the contents of one CD to another CD.

      Select the project you want to run. All options require you to either have a source disc or blank disc in your disc drive to function.

      Burn a CD by selecting the files from your hard drive that you want to copy to the CD, then pressing the "+" or "++" button to add one file or all files from within a folder. Next, select the "burn" option from the upper toolbar.

      Copy or write a disc image to or from a CD by first selecting the disc image from the file selection screen. Next, press the "Open" button then the "OK" button on the "Copy" or "Burn" screen.

      Copy the contents of a CD directly to another CD by inserting the source disc into your disc drive and selecting it from the "Copy Disc" menu. Press the "OK" button, then replace the source disc with a blank disc when prompted. Press "OK" on the "Burn" menu to complete the data transfer.
