How to Make a Softie Ring Stacker
Ring stacker toys are a favorite among babies. Not only are they bright colors and visually stimulating, but babies also love to chew on them. Most ring stackers are made out of plastic, which could potentially have chemicals to which you don't want to expose your baby. By making your own soft ring stacker out of fabric, you know it's safe to chew on and it's still easy to clean. If it gets dirty, throw the rings in the washing machine.
Things You'll Need

- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Polyester batting
- Needle
- Pins

Instructions

1
Cut an 11-inch square out of the cardboard.
-
2
Cut two 11.5-inch squares from the felt of which you have two sheets.
-
-
3
Sew the felt squares together on three sides using the sewing machine. Turn it right side out, with the seams in. Slide the cardboard square between the felt squares. Stuff some batting into the pocket, on one side of the cardboard.
-
4
Stitch up the last side of the felt pocket by hand using a whip stitch. This is the base of your ring stacker.
-
5
Cut a 12-inch circle out of the same color felt that you used for the base.
-
6
Fold the circle in half and then roll the semicircle up, starting at one short end. Sew the entire length of the cone shape with the sewing machine and fill with batting until it's firm.
-
7
Center the cone on the base. Pin it in place and whip stitch by hand around the cone, attaching it to the base. Remove the pins.
-
8
Cut two 10-inch circles, two 8-inch circles, two 6-inch circles and two 4-inch circles out of the remaining colors of felt. Use one color for each size.
-
9
Cut a hole in the center of each circle. Be sure that the hole is the same size and in the same position in each circle.
-
10
Sew the two circles that are the same size together using the sewing machine, leaving 1 inch unsewn. Turn the circles right side out, so the seams are on the inside. Stuff the rings with batting until they are firm. Whip stitch the final inch closed by hand.
-
11
Place the rings over the cone on the base.
