The Nike+ system offers runners a chance to track their workouts and coordinate playlists.

Developed in 2006, the Nike+ iPod tool is a useful system that allows runners to track the pace and distance of a run through a small chip that fits into Nike+ shoes. The system also allows runners to select music to correspond to their runs, and the option of a pre-designated "Power Song" that can be easily accessed when the runner is in need of extra motivation. Installation of the Nike+ chip into a par of Nike+ shoes is fast and easy.

  • Nike+ sports kit
  • Nike+ shoes
  • IPod

Instructions

      Remove the insole from your left Nike+ shoe.

      Remove the foam insert below it. Keep the insert so that it can be reused.

      Insert your Nike+ sensor, flat side up, into the pocket where the foam insert was previously placed. Replace the insole in the shoe.

Tips & Warnings

  • Though you can leave the Nike+ chip in the shoe, you should remove it if you plan to use the shoes for purposes other than running for an extended period of time, to preserve battery life. In order to coordinate the Nike+ sensor with your iPod, you must insert the Nike+ receiver, provided in your Nike+ sports kit, into your iPod in the spot where the charger would normally be plugged in.
