How to Get Dust Off Your Velvet Couch

Clean dust off of a couch that's been in storage.

Velvet is a woven fabric featuring a dense pile, which gives it a soft, smooth feel. A velvet couch will give your living room or den an elegant, sophisticated look. Velvet upholstery is available in a wide range of decorative colors, including cobalt blue and deep, lush burgundy, so choose the hue that best complements your home. If the fabric gets dusty, gently clean it with a vacuum to renew its luster.

Things You'll Need

• Soft fabric brush
• Vacuum with upholstery attachment

Instructions

1. Run a soft fabric brush over the couch, working in the direction of the velvet's nap, to loosen the accumulated dust and debris.

2. Equip your vacuum with an upholstery attachment.

3. Vacuum the dust off the velvet couch by running the attachment over the fabric in the direction of the nap.

4. Brush the velvet in the direction of the nap once again to make sure the fabric is smooth.
