How to Become a Hotel Night Auditor
Hotel night auditors manage the front desk during the overnight shift and run reports for bookkeeping. Every hotel requires different reports, but most require night auditors to run end-of-day reports to reconcile financial records and post new charges to rooms such as room service. Night-auditor positions do not typically require specialized education, though learning about the hospitality industry and acquiring the skills needed for accurate record keeping can help you demonstrate your qualifications for the job.

1
Learn basic computer functions, particularly word processing and spreadsheet software. Many hotels require night auditors to handle basic correspondence and enter data into spreadsheets for reconciliation and analysis.

2
Familiarize yourself with basic accounting practices through high school or college courses. While you won't need a college degree for most entry-level, night-auditor positions, adding accounting and financial classes to your resume shows you're familiar with how to compile and maintain financial records.

Present yourself as professional and personable. Most night auditors interact with guests who check in or have questions or needs during the overnight shift. You'll need to be able to speak clearly over the phone and present a well-groomed, professional appearance to guests who come to the front desk in person.

4
Highlight your relevant experience on your resume when applying for a night auditor position. Even if you haven't worked at a hotel before, emphasize skills you gained or demonstrated through previous work or volunteer experience on your resume. Filing, bookkeeping, typing, computer software, multitasking and customer service skills are the most important qualities for a night auditor.
