How to Fold & Tie a Bandana on a Dog's Neck

Give your dog a different bandana every day of the week.

The trick to folding and tying a bandana around the dog's neck is to first iron the fabric. Ironing the bandanna softens the fabric and boosts its folding ability. A soft bandana also means no sharp edges that will bother your dog while wearing its neckwear. Once the bandana is folded and tied, take your dog out for a walk to show off your pets' sense of fashion.

Things You'll Need

• 14-by-14-inch square bandana
• Iron
• Ironing board

Instructions

1. Place the bandana onto a flat surface. Adjust the fabric so one of the corners is facing you.

2. Pinch the left corner of the bandana. Fold the left half over the right half. It is now shaped like a triangle.

3. Place the folded bandana onto an ironing board. Iron both sides of the fabric with medium to high heat. Allow five minutes for the bandana to cool.

4. Pinch both of the corners at the long ends of the folded bandana. Pull the corners up and around from the underside of the dogs neck.

5. Tie the pinched ends together. Drape and pull the left end over and under the right end. Pull the ends taught --- but not tight enough to constrict your dog's airflow. Drape and pull the right end over and under the left end. Pull the ends taught to complete the knot.

6. Pull the bottom corner of the bandana to the left or right side of the dog's neck so it is slightly off-center.
