Instructions

    • 1

Paint your wooden dowel using your craft paint and paintbrush. Set aside and allow to dry.

    • 2

Cut your tulle into 16 strips measuring 6 inches x 5 inches, and place into two piles of eight pieces each.

    • 3

Wrap your embroidery thread around the center of the longer sides of one of your tulle piles, and tie it tightly. Repeat with the second pile of tulle. You will now have two bunches of tulle that resemble the shape of an hourglass with tuft edges on each end.

    • 4

Place one bunch of tulle vertically on your work surface. Place the second bunch horizontally on top of the first. Tie the two bunches together with embroidery thread. You will now have a tulle ball.

    • 5

Fluff the ends of your tulle ball by separating the layers of tulle with your fingers. Trim any hanging thread.

    • 6

Glue your wooden dowel to the center of your tulle ball using craft glue. Hold in place until the bond is secure.

    • 7

Decorate your wand by gluing strips of ribbon, garland or bead strings to the base of the tulle ball, close to where it attaches to the wand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use two colors of tulle to create a different look for your wand.

  • Use more pieces of tulle for a fluffier wand, less pieces for a smaller poof.

  • For a variegated look, use craft paint to paint the edges of your tulle pieces. Allow them to dry before tying together.
