How to Crochet a Curly Tail

You can make a curly tail with yarn and a crochet hook.

You can make a curly tail from eyelash yarn if you know the basics of how to crochet. This fluffy tail would be perfect as a finishing touch on a hand-stitched stuffed animal and can also be attached to an animal costume. The same basic crochet pattern, suitable for crochet beginners, that is used for the tail could also be used to crochet a spiraled scarf from any type of flat or fluffy styled yarn.

Things You'll Need

• 1 skein eyelash yarn
• Crochet hook (size J)
• Tape measure
• Scissors
• Needle and thread

Instructions

1. Form a loop with the end of the yarn skein and pull the yarn strand through the loop with the crochet hook to make a chain stitch. Repeat to make a series of chain stitches that measures 12 inches long that will make a completed 6-inch tail.

2. Wrap the yarn strand around the crochet hook and insert the hook in the fourth chain from the hook. Grab a yarn strand and pull it through the chain. Grab another strand and pull it through two loops on the hook. Repeat to make one double crochet stitch.

3. Make four more double crochet stitches in the same chain stitch.

4. Skip one chain stitch and make five double crochet stitches in the next chain. Repeat this pattern along the entire length of chains.

5. Cut and knot the yarn. Sew the completed curly tail to the stuffed animal or costume with the needle and thread.
