Things You'll Need:
- Dental Kits (for Dogs)
- Dog Bones
- Dog Dishes
- Dog Food
- Dog Shampoo
- Dog Toothpastes
- Dog Treats
- Doggie Toothbrushes
- Dog Shampoo
-
Step 1
Know that your dog should have two bowls: one for water and one for food.
-
Step 2
Purchase a water bowl that can hold at least one quart of water and a dog food bowl that can hold at least two cups of dry dog food.
-
Step 3
Look for a bowl that will be easy to clean. Stainless steel bowls are easiest to clean, while ceramic bowls need to be cleaned most frequently because they are porous and can hold germs. Plastic bowls with wide bases are ideal for dogs who tip over their dishes.
-
Step 4
Realize that dog dishes come in a wide price range - from $10 for a basic, attractive plastic bowl to more than $100 for one of the more elaborate ceramic bowls.
-
Step 5
Consider purchasing a dog dish that is elevated or set into a stool. Elevating the dish aids the dog's digestion and is also an easy way to dress up a plain bowl.
-
Step 6
Notice the many types of bowls available in ceramic. Some can be personalized with your dog's name. They come in an array of colors and designs, including holiday motifs. An ever-popular design is dog bones painted around the dish. Many bowls also have designs inside the bowl. Plastic bowls come in a limited variety of colors, while stainless steel are always silver.
-
Step 7
Think about where the dish is kept and find a dish that matches the room's decor.
-
Step 8
Ask the salesperson if there are any special care instructions for the dish you choose. Make sure it is dishwasher-safe.

on 11/22/2005 It might seem costly at first to get dishes that are raised, but they keep your floor cleaner and drier, are easier for a large dog to eat from and easier for older owners to reach. We have the kind with stainless steel bowls on a (adjustable) pedestal.
