Things You'll Need:
- Catnip
- Catnip Balls
-
Step 1
Remember that not all catnip toys are alike. Decide if you want one that contains 100 percent catnip or prefer a blend of different herbs.
-
Step 2
Read the label to be sure that the toy you select does not use fillers in place of the catnip.
-
Step 3
Select a toy that you think your cat will enjoy. Catnip toys come in all shapes and sizes.
-
Step 4
Check the seams of the toy to be sure it can hold up to the demands of your cat.
-
Step 5
Remember that small mice filled with catnip are especially popular among cats.
-
Step 6
Be sure that all ingredients inside the toy are safe for your cat to ingest, in case he rips a hole in the fabric.
-
Step 7
Decide what type of fabric you like. Your cat might prefer plush, terry cloth or satin.
-
Step 8
Remember that most catnip toys cost $5 or less.

on 11/22/2005 So you think sock toys are only for dogs? Try this, my 4 cats just love them: Take an old sock, catnip & a spoon. Fill toe with catnip - 2 Tbsp. Tie a knot, 2 Tbsp & another knot, another knot & your done!! My cats hold them between their paws & rub their face against it, they also toss them in the air & play with it.

on 11/22/2005 I gave my cat some catnip, and she got so excited that she climbed up on the mantle and fell down. She hit her head on the corner table and it took her life. So, be careful when giving your cat a catnip toy.

on 11/22/2005 A person wrote in that he/she rips open the catnip toy to remove the plastic bag. Instead, you can take a straight pin and jab it all over allowing ventilation of the aroma of the herb. You can also buy catnip in a bottle at the pet store and sprinkle it.

on 11/22/2005 When my cats get new catnip toys I have to cut them open because the catnip is inside a plastic bag. I throw away the plastic bag and fill the toy with extra catnip and sew it back up. It's not pretty, but the cats don't mind at all. They go crazy.

on 11/22/2005 Catnip is an inexpenisive plant that grows outdoors easily in many climates and indoors everywhere. Plant a cople of catnip palnts out of reach of your kitties. When you want your kitty to play just break off a sprig and you're ready to go.
