What is it about toddlers and crayons and walls? Instead of sharing those colorful thoughts of yours with the doodling toddler, do something really off-the-wall: Get little Sam or Susie to help you make the colorful wax disappear.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gently scrape away the wax with a plastic spoon or spatula.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle baking soda on a damp white cloth.

  3. Step 3

Give the cloth to one of your tots and have him rub the marks off.

  4. Step 4

Dampen a sponge for the other one and have her rinse clean the residue.

  5. Step 5

Really stubborn marks may require Mom or Dad to spray on a very grown-up product: WD-40 or other multipurpose lubricating oil.

  6. Step 6

Wipe the wall clean with a damp towel.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy washable crayons.
  • Pencil marks can be removed with an artist's gum eraser (available at most art supply stores).

on 12/2/2008 Just used a product called Krud Kutter and it worked wonderfully! Does not remove the paint. For textured walls, I recommend removing the remaining crayon with a soft-bristle toothbrush.

on 2/5/2008 The dryer sheet and lotion worked great. No damage to the walls. Using a fragrant lotion makes the house smell Spring fresh too.

on 11/12/2007 We have just tried Bounce dryer sheet. It's only good for very small area. Then, we tried Mr. Clean Magic eraser and it's effortless!

on 11/22/2005 Desolv. This is the answer to your prayers. I used this when a whole load of laundry was marked by crayon. The crayon came out of everything that was cotton, polyester and flame retardant (not so much, but better). I used Desolv on hard floors, carpet and upholstery. It all came out! If you have questions about use you can call the number on the bottle.
