Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mirrors
  • My Twinn Accessories
  • My Twinn Baby Dolls
  • My Twinn Boy Dolls
  • My Twinn Dolls
  • My Twinn Friend Doll
  • My Twinn Matching Outfits

Step1
Understand that My Twinn dolls are dolls that are custom made to resemble your child.
Step2
Visit the My Twinn Web site or call 1-800-4-MYTWINN to obtain a catalog. Dolls can only be ordered through the company.
Step3
Know that a My Twinn doll starts at $98.95 for a non-poseable doll that is ordered before October. Prices rise the closer you get to Christmas. The most expensive doll is $169.95, a poseable doll ordered in mid to late December.
Step4
Notice that My Twinn dolls provide customized hair, skin, eyes, moles, freckles, birthmarks, eyelashes, eyebrows and face shape. You must send in a color photo of your child with your order. You specify how you want the doll's hair cut and styled. All dolls are 23 inches tall.
Step5
Look at some of the outfits you can order. Outfits come in two pieces - one for the doll and a matching one for your child. A wide variety of outfits is available and prices range from about $40 to $70 for the sets. Accessories are also available.
Step6
Recognize that My Twinn dolls are also available for boys.
Step7
Consider buying a "When She Was a Child" My Twinn doll. The company will take an old childhood photo of an adult of any age and create a doll to resemble the person as a child.
Step8
Make sure you look at the My Twinn babies as well. You can order a customized My Twinn baby to resemble a baby or photo of a child as a baby, or you can order one of 15 pre-made dolls. The babies are 20 inches long and cost $89.95. Clothing and accessories are available for My Twinn babies as well.
Step9
Remember that you can order a My Twinn customized doll up until December 15 and still receive it in time for Christmas.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider ordering an additional My Twinn doll as a friend to the custom My Twinn.
  • Wrap the doll in a box with a small mirror on top, since the doll will almost be like a mirror. This will also help young children understand the resemblance.

on 7/25/2008 Here's a video I found that shows how the dolls are made. They put them in little salon chairs, how cute!

on 5/11/2007 I also had a bad time with this company. The first time we ordered it was on nov.1st,the only thing my daughter was going to get. They lost my order, strung me along until Dec.24th,no doll.I tried again for her May 4th birthday,it was late and the doll looked nothing like her!! I e-mailed photos and everything! All they said was"We will send someone out to get it" No deals,no changes offered.Don't use this company!!!

on 8/1/2006 We just received our My Twinn doll 1 week ahead of schedule (we ordered in July, not at the holiday season). It really looks as much like her as a doll could. We uploaded three different pictures of our daughter and were very pleased with the face they picked out. My tip is to give the company as much information as you can. When you order you are given a chance to upload up to 3 photos, and also are given a template to "draw" on any features you want.

You used to be able to pick out your own face style, but there were several choices (over 10 I think) and it was very overwhelming. I like this way much better.

on 3/22/2006 I was browsing through a Goodwill among the toys and saw a beautiful doll with dark hair and dark eyes. I was amazed at the quality of the doll, how well she could move her limbs, stand, sit, etc. All toys were $2.50 each, so I bought it for my niece, who has such features more or less, as an Irish-Portuguese kid. She loves it! I don't know if this is much of a recommendation since I didn't pay $169.00 for it, but goodness, it is way above any normal doll! Perhaps you folks should check E-Bay!

on 1/23/2006 Don't bother! A huge disappointment arrived on Christmas Eve night! I opened the box and was horrified! It not only doesn't resemble my daughter, but the haircut is a hack job. $169.95, and now I have to ship it back - again at my expense, less the $35 customization fee and $25 express 3 week shipping.
